Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 9 September 2019 - President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani met with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, United Nations Secretary-General Special Representative for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
During the meeting, President Barzani commended the role of the United Nations and highlighted the significance of the continuation of UNAMI's support to federal Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Both sides discussed different issues, including Erbil-Baghdad relations, next year's budget of Iraq, the situation in Kirkuk and its participation in the provincial elections, disputed areas and Article 140 of the Constitution of Iraq, the security situation of Iraq, the condition of refugees and their return to their homes, and the situation of Yezidis and the status of Shengal (Sinjar).
