Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with the Consul General of Armenia in the Kurdistan Region, Mr. Arshak Manoukian, in Erbil on Tuesday.
At the meeting, Mr. Manoukian expressed delight at his first meeting with the President of the Kurdistan Region and voiced Armenia’s willingness to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all areas of cooperation, especially in the economic field.
On his part, President Nechirvan Barzani wished Mr. Manoukian success in his new mission as the Republic of Armenia’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region and stated that the Kurdistan Region also desires to develop and expand ties with Armenia in all fields. The President reiterated that Armenian investments and businesses are welcome in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The President expressed hope that disagreements and tensions are peacefully resolved and that peace and stability return to the south Caucasus region.
The discussions also covered the Erbil-Baghdad relations, the threats of terror, the latest developments in the wider region, and other issues of mutual interest.
