Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received the Governor of Karbala, Mr. Nsaif Jassim Al-Khattabi in Erbil on Thursday.
At the meeting, Governor Al-Khattabi shed light on the general situation in the Governorate of Karbala, especially religious tourism in the holy city. The Governor underlined that peace and stability in Karbala pave way for domestic and foreign investments and continued development in the Governorate. He also commended the achievements of the Kurdistan Region’s private sector in attracting investments and capital, adding that the Region could serve as a model for Karbala and other Iraqi Governorates to benefit from.
The President and the Governor exchanged views on mechanisms of coordination between Iraqi governorates and the Federal Government in Baghdad; as well as the importance of decentralization and transferring power and authorities from the Federal Government to the Governorates in order to provide better and faster services at local levels.
President Nechirvan Barzani accepted the invitation of Governor Al-Khattabi to visit Karbala Governorate and hoped to visit the city at an appropriate time in the future.
