Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Alireza Günay, the new Ambassador of Turkey to Iraq, on Wednesday.
President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated the Ambassador on assuming the office and wished him success in his new mission.
At the meeting, attended by Turkey’s Consul General, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq’s relations with Turkey were highlighted and both sides reiterated their willingness to expand relations in all areas of mutual cooperation.
Discussions also focused on Iraq and the wider region, the upcoming Iraqi elections, the latest on COVID-19 pandemic in Iraq and Turkey, confronting terrorism, ISIS threats and other topics of mutual interest.
