The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received a US delegation consisting of Matthew H. Tueller, the ambassador to Iraq and Andrew L. Peek the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. The delegation stressed on the relations between the US with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region at all levels. Also, they expressed their satisfaction for the improvement of relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and expressed their willingness to provide their assistance in resolving issues through dialogue.
On his side, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, thanked the help and the support of the United States of America during the difficult times, and emphasized on relations between both sides. He highly regarded the visit of the delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between them and the Kurdistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He reiterated that American companies can access the whole Iraq through Kurdistan as a gate. Also, He presented a brief on his latest visit to Baghdad, and expressed willingness to resolve the issues between Erbil and Baghdad in accordance with the constitution.
Also in the meeting, the steps in forming the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the threats of Da’esh, the cooperation between the international coalition, Erbil and Baghdad, and the condition of refugees and the preparations for their return to their homes were all discussed.
