President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Irfan Siddiq, the British Ambassador to Iraq.
Their discussions focused on relations between the United Kingdom, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors, as well as the overall situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and the status of Erbil-Baghdad relations. They also exchanged views on the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet and the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections.
Both sides discussed Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with neighboring countries and the wider region. They highlighted President Nechirvan Barzani’s recent visit to Türkiye and the latest developments regarding the peace process there. The British Ambassador commended the President’s efforts to facilitate the reopening of Turkish airspace for flights from Sulaymaniyah.
The meeting also addressed the situation of the Kurds and other communities in Syria, along with broader developments in the Middle East. The British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
