As part of his visit to Italy, President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Guido Crosetto, Italy’s Defense Minister.
Their discussion focused on strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Italy in military and security matters, as well as joint efforts to address the threat of terrorism.
President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed the gratitude of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq for Italy’s significant role within the international coalition, particularly in providing advice and training to the Peshmerga forces.
In response, Mr. Crosetto reaffirmed his country’s continued commitment and support for peace and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. He also emphasized that Italy’s support in military and security matters will continue.
The meeting also addressed the latest security developments in the region and the implications of rising tensions. Both sides agreed on the necessity of preserving stability and preventing the resurgence of terrorism.
