During his visit to the Vatican, President Nechirvan Barzani met with His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See.
The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq with the Holy See, as well as the political and security situation in Iraq and the condition of religious and ethnic communities. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance in the region.
President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed the gratitude of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq for the Holy See’s continued support in promoting peace and stability. In response, Cardinal Pietro Parolin commended the Kurdistan Region for presenting a successful model of peaceful coexistence among different religions and communities in the region.
Another part of the meeting focused on the latest developments and the overall situation in the region, as well as the humanitarian impact of ongoing tensions. Both sides agreed on the necessity of preserving peace and stability in the region.
