President Nechirvan Barzani received Ambassador Steven Fagin, the new Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. The President congratulated him on his new role and wished him success in his duties, reaffirming the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to support him in carrying out his diplomatic mission successfully.
The meeting focused on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with the United States, expanding cooperation across various sectors, the internal situation in Iraq, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the importance of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue.
Ambassador Fagin expressed his appreciation for the role of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq and the broader region. He also underscored the importance of stability and strengthening U.S. relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across all areas.
The discussion also addressed support for the Federal Government of Iraq, the importance of ensuring that arms remain under state control, the internal situation and the importance of unity and mutual understanding in the Kurdistan Region, as well as the latest regional developments.
