President Nechirvan Barzani met with the new European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Martin Huth.
President Barzani congratulated Ambassador Huth and expressed his support for him. President Barzani encouraged the European Union to assist Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the reform process of their institutions.
Ambassador Huth presented a briefing on the E.U.'s support program to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, focusing on institutional reforms, development, and confronting the dangers of terror resurgence. He also praised the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability advancements.
Both sides discussed Erbil-Baghdad relations and their security coordination, encouragement of local and foreign investment in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the latest developments in Iraq and Syria, the military operations in the east of the Euphrates and its effect on the security and stability of the wider region.
The meeting was also attended by the new Head of the European Union Office in Erbil, Vincent Guillaume Poupeau,
