Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Robert Palladino, the new Consul General of the United States of America in Erbil, on Tuesday.
President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Mr. Palladino on his new mission in the Kurdistan Region, wished him success in his duties and reiterated support for his new assignment.
The President reiterated that the Kurdistan Region attaches importance to its relations with the United States and is willing to further develop its partnership with the US in all areas of mutual cooperation. The President also underlined that the Kurdistan Region will remain a factor of peace and stability in Iraq and the wider region.
The Consul General expressed support for strengthening of relations with the Kurdistan Region and reiterated his country’s willingness to continue partnership and cooperation with the Kurdistan Region.
Discussions also focused on the latest developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the upcoming elections and the opportunities and challenges facing the country. Discussions also covered the threats posed by terror networks, the continued fight against ISIS, and other issues of mutual interest.
