President Nechirvan Barzani received Christian Oelfke, Germany’s new Consul General in Erbil, along with his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the President congratulated Mr. Oelfke on assuming his new role and wished him success in his duties. He affirmed his readiness, and that of the relevant institutions of the Kurdistan Region, to provide support and facilitate the success of his diplomatic mission.
President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s gratitude for Germany’s support and assistance, particularly in the fight against ISIS and terrorism, as well as for its political and humanitarian support to the Kurdistan Region.
Mr. Oelfke thanked the President and underscored Germany’s desire to further strengthen relations and expand cooperation with the Kurdistan Region. He also commended President Nechirvan Barzani’s role in the Kurdistan Region and across Iraq.
They also discussed the latest developments and the regional situation.
