Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 20 July 2019 - President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region commended the Asaysh forces and Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Kurdistan Region for arresting the perpetrator and the accomplice involved in the armed terrorist attack on July 17, 2019, in a restaurant in Erbil.
Below is the text of the statement:
Today the Asayish forces and Counter-Terrorism Unit successfully arrested the main perpetrator and one of the accomplices involved in the armed terrorist attack on July 17, 2019, in a restaurant in Erbil, which killed a Turkish diplomat and two citizens of the Kurdistan Region.
The success of Asayish forces and Counter-Terrorism Unit in their duties prove their loyalty for Kurdistan and its Citizens. The focus of the authorities of the Kurdistan Region will be on arresting the perpetrators and accomplices after such attacks. The real achievements of the Asayish forces and Counter-Terrorism Unit are that they have always been able to repel terrorists’ aims and prevent them from harming the Kurdistan Region’s citizens and guests.
They have been protecting the people of the Kurdistan Region to their best ability. Also, they will continue to carry out their duties to protect the peace and stability of the Kurdistan Region, as criminals and their accomplices face justice.
