President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed the new US Consul General in Erbil, Ms. Gwendolyn Green, along with Mr. Steven Bitner, the outgoing US Consul General.
During the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Ms. Green on her new role and assured her of his full support. He also expressed appreciation for Mr. Bitner’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his efforts to strengthen his country’s relations with the Kurdistan Region.
President Nechirvan Barzani expressed gratitude to the US for its assistance to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors, emphasizing the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to enhancing relations and fostering joint cooperation with the United States.
Mr. Bitner thanked President Nechirvan Barzani and the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region for their support.
Ms. Green reiterated her country’s strong commitment to its relationship with the Kurdistan Region as a valued ally and emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation to further strengthen these ties.
The two sides also discussed the current situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the latest developments in Syria and the wider region.
