The Kurdistan Region Presidency and the Kurdistan Regional Government convened a meeting with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) of Iraq, with the UNAMI Representative present.
The primary aim of the meeting was to deliberate on the necessary preparations for the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections. Both the Kurdistan Region Presidency and the Kurdistan Regional Government reiterated their unwavering commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process.
During the discussions, the Commission deliberated on the technical processes and the time required for the various stages involved in carrying out the elections, before the expiry of the current Commission's mandate. The UNAMI Representative also affirmed their willingness to collaborate at every stage to guarantee the success of the electoral process.
It was emphasized during the meeting that just as the Kurdistan Region Presidency and the Kurdistan Regional Government previously took concerted steps to hold the election and fulfilled their legal responsibilities, now they are equally committed to taking all the measures needed to hold successful elections in the Kurdistan Region.
