Kurdistan Region President Meets with Chief of OSC-I

The President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received a United States military delegation, led by Brigadier General Gregory Kreuder, the Chief of Office of Security Cooperation in Iraq (OSC-I).
President Barzani stressed the need for cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi Army in the disputed areas, and the support of the US-led coalition forces for a joint security mechanism between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad to maintain stability and to confront terror threats. He also expressed his contentment on the improved relations and dialogue between Kurdistan Regional Government and Government of Iraq.
President Barzani expressed his appreciation for the US support in the fight against ISIS. He also raised the need for continued US engagement in the reform process of the Peshmerga forces in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.

Brigadier General Kreuder praised the significant role of Peshmerga forces in the war against terrorism. Additionally, he reiterated his country’s support to Peshmerga forces and the Kurdistan Region. He also stressed on the role of the Kurdistan Region Presidency in supporting the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts for unifying the Peshmerga forces and the entire reform process in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.
Both sides discussed the security status of the disputed areas, especially in Kirkuk, Sinjar and the Nineveh Plains .
The meeting was also attended by the US Consul General in Erbil, Steven Fagin.
