Kurdistan Region President meets with religious leaders, reaffirms support for rights of communities

President Nechirvan Barzani received a joint delegation of officials from the Endowment Office of Christian, Yezidi, and Sabi’an Mandai religions from the Iraqi Federal Council of Ministers, chaired by chief of staff, Dr. Rami Joseph Aghajan.

The discussions focused on the situation of religious communities in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Views were exchanged on the presence and participation of Christian, Yezidi, and Sabi’an Mandai communities in political and administrative positions and institutions in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Both sides stressed the importance of expanding and deepening the culture of coexistence and mutual acceptance at all levels, particularly in education. The delegation expressed their gratitude for the role, concern, and support of President Nechirvan Barzani toward the communities.

President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed his full support for ensuring all the rights of all communities, stressed that the Kurdistan Region will always be a haven for national coexistence, mutual acceptance, and tolerance for all, while also ensuring the protection of their rights.
