President Nechirvan Barzani received the Ambassador of Greece to Iraq, Mr. Leonidas Kontovounesios, accompanied by the outgoing Consul General of Greece in Erbil, Mr. Efthymios Costopoulos.
President Barzani thanked Consul General Costopoulos for his contribution to the development of friendly relations with the Kurdistan Region and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Ambassador Kontovounesios thanked President Nechirvan Barzani and the Kurdistan Regional Government for their cooperation and support to the Consulate General of Greece in Erbil. He indicated that despite the pandemic, reduced consular services would continue.
Other topics discussed included agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Government of Iraq, the persistent threat of terrorism, and upcoming elections.
