Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Asaad Al-Eidani, the Governor of Basra, in Erbil on Tuesday.
At the meeting, attended by Mr. Aras Habib Karim, Member of Iraq’s Parliament, the situation in Basra and the governorates of southern Iraq was highlighted, especially the reconstruction and public service efforts in these provinces. The importance of greater employment and investment opportunities for local and foreign businesses was affirmed.
The success of the private sector in the Kurdistan Region and its great contribution to the infrastructure projects in all fields were highlighted. It was affirmed that Iraq needs welcoming investment laws and an encouraging banking system.
Mr. Al-Eidani commended the reconstruction efforts in the Kurdistan Region and affirmed that Basra and Iraq’s other regions could benefit from the progress and successful experience of the Kurdistan Region,
