Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Fuad al-Majali, the incoming Consul General of the Kingdom of Jordan in Erbil on Monday.
The President congratulated the new Consul General on assuming the office, wished him success in his mission, and expressed support for his new duties. The President also reiterated his appreciation for the persistent support of His Majesty King Abdulla II of Jordan during the difficult periods.
The Consul General expressed delight over his new mission and looked forward to working together with the Kurdistan Region’s institutions to expand bilateral relations.
Both sides underlined the historical ties between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan with shared values, and highlighted the ample opportunities to strengthen cooperation and partnership which benefit the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and Jordan.
Discussions also covered the Iraqi elections, efforts to form the upcoming federal government, the COVID-19 pandemic, its implications and the vaccination process, the status of the Jordanian community in the Kurdistan Region, stability in Jordan, Iraq and the wider region.
