Kurdistan Region President receives Norway’s Ambassador

President Nechirvan Barzani received Norway’s Ambassador to Iraq, Mrs. Tone Allers.

In response to recent terrorist attacks and ISIS resurgence, President Barzani and Ambassador Allers agreed for the continuing need for international assistance.

The status of refugees and IDPs being hosted by the KRG in camps, status of Shingal in negotiations with Baghdad, and the international community’s efforts and assistance were discussed. President Barzani expressed gratitude for Norway’s support and Ambassador Allers reaffirmed her country’s commitment to continue humanitarian assistance to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Also discussed were status of disputed territories, Iraq budget draft including the Kurdistan Region’s share, upcoming Iraqi elections, and latest developments in Iraq and the greater region.

President Barzani reaffirmed that the key to stability and peaceful coexistence among all communities in Iraq is adherence to the letter and spirit of the Iraqi Constitution in implementing a cooperative federal system of government. The support of the United Nations and other members of the international community is welcomed.
