President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with a high-level US Congressional Delegation, headed by Mr. Lindsey Graham in Germany today, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
The meeting highlighted the latest developments in Iraq’s political arena, the efforts to form the new federal government, and ways to strengthen Kurdistan Region's relations with the United States.
The Congressional delegation stressed that the US Congress attaches great importance to the Kurdistan Region with strong bilateral relations between the two sides, clarifying that in the face of the many challenges in the region, bilateral ties between the two sides must remain strong and develop further.
The President and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region expressed their appreciation for the assistance and support of the US to the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing that the complete elimination of ISIS requires the continued US support to the Kurdistan Region.
Discussions also covered the recent decision of the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court regarding the oil and gas law in the Kurdistan Region, which does not contribute to stability in Iraq, nor does it resolve the problems of the Kurdistan Region with the federal government.
