President Nechirvan Barzani met with David Schenker, United States Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.
Both sides exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq, the demonstrations in Baghdad and other cities, Erbil- Baghdad relations and efforts to resolve outstanding issues in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution.
President Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the need of maintaining political and security stability, delivering services to citizens, protecting the gains made by Peshmerga and Iraqi forces in defeating ISIS terrorism. He also reiterated the importance of coordination between the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the international community in addressing the threats and the potential resurgence of terrorism.
They also discussed the latest developments in Syria and ongoing military operations, their effects and consequences.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, the U.S. Ambassador to Baghdad and the U.S. Consul General to the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
