The President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani met with the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
President Barzani conveyed his condolences for the recent passing of Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He also congratulated Mr. Haitham bin Tariq on the assumption of office as the Sultan of Oman and expressed the Kurdistan Region’s willingness to improve bilateral relations with the Sultanate of Oman.
Both leaders discussed the latest developments in the wider region and ways to maintain peace and stability. The threat of terror resurgence, relations between Erbil and Baghdad as well as the role of Oman as a mediator in the Middle East were also discussed in the meeting
