During the Munich Security Conference, President Nechirvan Barzani met with Boris Pistorius, German Defense Minister.
Their discussions focused on partnership and cooperation between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Germany in military and security matters. The President expressed gratitude to German military forces for their continued mission in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, acknowledging Germany’s support and the active involvement of its advisers in training the Peshmerga and facilitating the reform process within the Ministry of Peshmerga.
In response, Mr. Pistorius reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue supporting Iraq and the Kurdistan Region as allies and friends, highlighting the importance of upholding peace and stability while fostering continued collaboration to combat terrorism.
The meeting also addressed the situation in Syria and broader regional developments.
