ERBIL, Kurdistan Region, December 17, 2020
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani congratulates Yazidis on Eda Rojiet Ezi (Yazidi Fasting). Here is his statement:
On the occasion of Eda Rojiet Ezi, I congratulate the Prince, Mir, of the Yazidis, Baba Sheikh, the Yezidi Spiritual Council, and all Yazidi sisters and brothers in Kurdistan and around the world, especially Yazidi families who are victims of terrorism. I wish these celebrations help bring them peace and end their hardship. I also hope and wish all displaced Yazidis have better lives in safe and reconstructed homelands that were severely damaged during the war on terrorism.
I reassure all our Yazidi compatriots that we will continue our utmost to locate those who have been abducted and to reunite them with their families.
Yezidis are an ancient and cherished community, a key component of our rich cultural heritage to be honored and respected. We are proud of our Yezidi sisters and brothers as representatives of our diversity and inclusiveness. Among all our ethnic and religious communities, we will continue to promote, protect, and preserve peaceful coexistence.
I wish you a happy Eda Rojiet Ezi and a peaceful and prosperous year.
