President Nechirvan Barzani engaged in discussions today with a delegation from the German Bundestag, headed by Johann Wadephul, a Member of the Bundestag and Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU), during the Munich Security Conference.
During the meeting, President Barzani expressed his gratitude to Germany for its political, security, military, and humanitarian assistance to the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing Germany's crucial role in supplying essential military resources in the fight against ISIS. He also acknowledged the German Parliament's decision to extend the mission of German forces in the Kurdistan Region.
In response, the members of the parliamentary delegation reaffirmed Germany's dedication to supporting both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the importance of sustained collaboration to tackle security challenges and enhance cooperation in key sectors.
