President Nechirvan Barzani received Patrick Durel, the Ambassador of France to Iraq this evening.
The meeting focused on the diplomatic relations between France and Iraq, as well as the Kurdistan Region. It addressed the recent progress in the Erbil-Baghdad negotiations aimed at resolving their outstanding issues, the current circumstances in the Kurdistan Region, and the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Kurdistan.
Both parties acknowledged the potential for enhancing French relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors, particularly in trade and economic interactions. They shared perspectives on opportunities, necessary actions, and collaborative efforts.
During the meeting attended by the French Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, there was a strong emphasis on the significance of the elections for the Kurdistan Region. Both sides expressed their hopes for a peaceful campaign and a successful voting process.
The overall circumstances in the region, along with various other matters of mutual concern, were also addressed.
