President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Ambassador Daniel Rubinstein, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
The meeting addressed a wide range of topics, including the United States' relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the dynamics between Erbil and Baghdad. The two sides examined the current situation in the Kurdistan Region, the outcomes of the parliamentary elections, and ongoing efforts to establish a new cabinet. Additionally, discussions encompassed the reunification of the Peshmerga forces, the reform initiatives within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, and the evolving circumstances in Syria and the broader region.
Ambassador Rubinstein emphasized the United States' dedication to ongoing aid and support for both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. In response, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed gratitude to the United States for its contributions and backing, particularly in the battle against terrorism.
Both parties recognized the significance of upholding peace and stability in the region, committing to efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable peace. They also acknowledged the circumstances of the Yezidis in Sinjar, as well as the Christians and other communities in the Nineveh Plain.
The meeting, which included the participation of the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, also addressed various other issues of mutual concern.
