Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France.
Discussions focused on strengthening of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s relations with France, the situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and the wider region. The upcoming Iraqi elections, the political process in the country, terror threats and the resurgence of ISIS, the international coalition in Iraq, the status of the communities, the refugees and the IDPs in the Kurdistan Region were also among topics discussed at the meeting.
Both sides reaffirmed willingness to strengthen bilateral relations, to continue the global coalition against ISIS and to support Iraq in confronting ISIS.
Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s cooperation and partnership, the international community and France’s support to resolve the disagreements, cooperation to secure peace and stability in Iraq and the broader region were also among topics of discussion.
