President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mr. Mohamed Al Hassan, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).
Their discussions focused on relations between Erbil and Baghdad, upcoming Iraqi elections, and recent political developments in the country.
Both sides emphasized the significance of the elections and the necessity of a fair voting process in the Kurdistan Region and throughout Iraq. They expressed hope that the elections and their results would benefit both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, ushering in a new and more promising phase in every area.
They also stressed the need to address the issues between Erbil and Baghdad through dialogue and understanding, with a shared commitment to upholding peace and stability in Iraq.
