President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Mr. Haider al-Abadi, the leader of the Victory Alliance party, in Baghdad on Sunday. The main purpose of their discussion was to address the current situation in Iraq and the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad. They shared their perspectives and concentrated on the most recent developments in the wider Middle East.
Both sides stressed the need to protect Iraq from the consequences of the turmoil in the region. They further emphasised the importance of cooperation between the political parties and communities in Iraq to overcome conflicts and resolve issues through dialogue and understanding, and agreed that citizens should not be made to pay the price for political problems with their livelihoods and wellbeing.
The meeting also discussed the threat posed by ISIS and terrorism to the peace and stability of the country.
