President Nechirvan Barzani received Janet Alberda, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq.
In the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani extended his congratulations to Ambassador Alberda on her new role, expressing his best wishes for her success. He also reiterated the commitment of the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region to support her in fulfilling her responsibilities.
Ambassador Alberda expressed her delight in visiting and taking up her role in the Kurdistan Region. She extended her congratulations to President Nechirvan Barzani and the people of Kurdistan for the successful conduct of the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections.
The two sides emphasized on their interest in enhancing the relationship between the Netherlands and Iraq, as well as the Kurdistan Region. They also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Netherlands in the international coalition against ISIS and its support for both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Both parties discussed the recent developments in the Middle East, as well as the associated threats and implications arising from the current situation in the region.
