President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Niccolò Fontana, Italy’s Ambassador to Iraq, along with his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated his gratitude and appreciation to the President, Government, and people of Italy for awarding him the Order of the Star of Italy, describing the gesture as a symbol of the sincere friendship between the two sides and a step toward further strengthening bilateral relations.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing relations between Italy, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. They also exchanged views on expanding cooperation across various fields.
The meeting also covered the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, President Nechirvan Barzani’s visit to Iran last week and his meetings in Tehran, as well as regional developments and a number of issues of mutual interest. Italy’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
