As part of his engagements in Baghdad, President Nechirvan Barzani, along with his delegation, met with Judge Faiq Zidan, President of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council.
Their discussion focused on the political landscape and overall situation in the country. Both sides emphasized that the independence of the judiciary is a fundamental principle essential for safeguarding the country’s institutions, stability, and the constitutional rights and entitlements of all citizens.
President Nechirvan Barzani commended the President of the Supreme Judicial Council for his contributions to upholding political stability and safeguarding the nation’s paramount interests. He expressed gratitude for his significant efforts in addressing issues and fostering dialogue among various parties.
Both sides reiterated the necessity of upholding the rule of law and operating within the constitutional framework as the sole means to address the nation’s challenges and safeguard the legal rights of all communities, as well as the federal and constitutional institutions of the Kurdistan Region.
The meeting also addressed the enhancement of cooperation between the judicial institutions of the federal government and the Kurdistan Region.
