President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev, Russia’s Ambassador to Iraq, in Erbil on Tuesday.
Discussions centered on strengthening Russian ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the evolving relationship between Erbil and Baghdad. Both sides underscored the importance of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding as the path forward in resolving pending issues between the two administrations.
They also exchanged views on the U.S.-Iran agreement, expressing hope that the discussions would lead to a durable, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region.
Another topic of their discussion was the latest developments in the war in Ukraine.
The meeting was also attended by the Russian Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
