President Nechirvan Barzani met with Dr. Mahmoud al-Mashadani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in Baghdad on Monday morning.
The meeting focused on the relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the federal authorities, emphasizing the need to enhance collaboration to address unresolved issues under the Iraqi Constitution. Both parties acknowledged the importance of fostering cooperation to promote stability and development within the country.
President Nechirvan Barzani highlighted the crucial role of the House of Representatives in facilitating national dialogue, promoting justice and equality among all Iraqi communities, and addressing the challenges facing the nation, particularly those arising between Erbil and Baghdad.
President Nechirvan Barzani urged Dr. Mahmoud al-Mashadani to actively participate in amending the federal budget law for 2025. He stressed the importance of ensuring fairness in addressing the rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region, especially concerning the provision of salaries, in alignment with the rest of Iraq.
Both sides also discussed regional developments and the evolving situation in Syria. They underscored the necessity of collaboration among all stakeholders to effectively tackle the challenges at hand.
