President Nechirvan Barzani, the Commander-in-Chief of the Peshmerga Forces, chaired a high-level military and security meeting today at the Kurdistan Region Presidency. The meeting was also attended by Vice President Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, the Minister of Interior, the Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga, and senior military commanders.

The meeting addressed recent security developments in the region, examining the implications of the war and its dangerous effects on the Kurdistan Region. A series of resolutions and directives were issued to reinforce security and maintain stability, along with guidelines for how the media should address unfolding events and developments.

President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region will not be part of the war and conflict, emphasizing that protecting peace within the region is a top priority. He also stressed that the Kurdistan Region will under no circumstances become a source of threat to the Islamic Republic of Iran or any other neighboring country.

The meeting strongly condemned the devastating drone and missile attacks launched by lawless Iraqi militant groups against the Kurdistan Region, which have resulted in casualties and property damage. It stressed that the Iraqi Federal Government bears clear responsibility to prevent further attacks, pursue those responsible, and hold them accountable. Such acts represent a serious violation of national sovereignty and pose a direct threat to the stability of the region.

During the meeting, they conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and those wounded in the attacks on the Kurdistan Region. They expressed appreciation to the Peshmerga forces and security institutions for their unwavering dedication and countless sacrifices in protecting Kurdistan and its people.
