Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani sent a message to the International Conference on Peace and Democratic Society, organized by the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Istanbul today, expressing the Kurdistan Region’s full support for the achievement of peace in Türkiye.
The message was delivered by Mr. Dilshad Shahab, who serves as the representative of the President of the Kurdistan Region at the conference. The following is the message:

Dear guests and participants,
Good morning,
I sincerely appreciate your invitation to this conference.
Our vision for peace in the Kurdistan Region remains steadfast and strategic. We hold the belief that peace transcends the mere absence of conflict; it is a process of fostering trust, embracing one another, and discovering common ground amidst our differences.
Violence and conflict have invariably led to destruction and setbacks for nations. However, whenever the opportunity for dialogue has been presented, and there has been political commitment to peace, significant opportunities for development and stability have emerged.
Türkiye is a vital country and our strategic neighbor. The stability and progress of Türkiye directly influence the stability of Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the broader region. Türkiye thrives in peace and is capable of playing a more substantial role in the area.
In recent years, we have actively supported peace in every possible manner. This period has demonstrated that dialogue can yield considerable benefits for all parties involved. Today, we reaffirm our unwavering support for the success of peace. The Kurdistan Region will consistently serve as a pillar of stability in the region.
Such a crucial process at this delicate juncture may face challenges, yet these obstacles must not lead to a decline in our pursuit of peace. The triumph of peace demands patience. Regardless of the time it takes, it remains an ongoing endeavor.
I would like to extend my congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his significant role and courageous vision in promoting peace. This represents a historic milestone that necessitates strong political will, bravery, sacrifice, and a sense of responsibility.
We also extend our congratulations to Mr. Ocalan, Mr. Devlet Bahçeli, and all those dedicated to peace and working towards successful coexistence. All who understand that the future can only be constructed on the foundations of peace and stability.
