President Nechirvan Barzani welcomed Mr. Joshua Harris, the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, along with his delegation, and extended his best wishes for success in this new mission.
The discussions focused on US relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including the Erbil-Baghdad negotiations aimed at resolving the outstanding issues, the economic and overall situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the upcoming general elections in the country.
Both parties underscored the significance of enhancing US relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Mr. Harris highlighted the shared interests and values between the United States and the Kurdistan Region, reaffirming the US commitment to fostering relations and broadening cooperation.
Concerning the financial entitlements and salaries of the Kurdistan Region, both sides agreed that these matters should be addressed and resolved promptly and permanently.
The meeting also covered the threat of terrorism and the fight against ISIS, developments in the Middle East, and the overall situation in the region. The US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region also attended the meeting.
