President Nechirvan Barzani received the incoming Consul General of the Czech Republic, Mr. Karel Kortánek in Erbil today.
The President congratulated the new Consul General on assuming the office and wished him success in his new duties. The President offered his full support for his mission and expressed the Kurdistan Region’s willingness to further develop bilateral relations with the Czech Republic. He also thanked the Czech Republic for its aid and support to the Kurdistan Region in the war against ISIS within the international coalition.
The Consul General expressed delight over his new duties in Kurdistan and underlined that his country attaches importance to its relations with the Kurdistan Region, and seeks further development of bilateral ties and partnership.
Discussions also focused on Erbil-Baghdad relations, coexistence and tolerance in the Kurdistan Region, work and investment opportunities for Czech businesses in Kurdistan, the latest political developments in Iraq, the war in Ukraine and its implications, and developments in the wider region.
