President Nechirvan Barzani received Niccolò Fontana, Ambassador of Italy to Iraq, along with his accompanying delegation.
Their discussion focused on strengthening Italy’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region across various sectors. President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s gratitude for Italy’s continued role and support within the framework of the Global Coalition, as well as its military, humanitarian, development, and archaeological assistance.
For his part, Ambassador Fontana reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to deepening relations and expanding cooperation. He also emphasized the importance Italy places on its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and on their security and stability, reaffirming Italy’s continued support for both.
The discussion also focused on the internal situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the latest regional developments. The meeting was also attended by Tommaso Sansone, the Consul General of Italy in Erbil.
