President Nechirvan Barzani received today in Erbil Mr. Cho Kijoung, the incoming Consul General of South Korea in the Kurdistan Region.
The President welcomed the new Consul General, congratulated him on assuming the office and wished him success. The President also reiterated full support for Mr. Kijoung in his new mission and expressed appreciation for South Korea’s humanitarian cooperation and support through the Zeitun Military Team and the Korean Koica Agency to the Kurdistan Region.
For his part, the Council General of South Korea reiterated that their country’s relations with the Kurdistan Region are special and expressed hope to further develop their bilateral relations. He also presented an overview of his country’s activities in Kurdistan, investment opportunities for Korean businesses and encouraging Korean private sector in the Kurdistan Region.
Both sides emphasized the further development of relations, expansion of cultural ties, cooperation in the field of education, and also discussed the political situation of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
