President Nechirvan Barzani extended a message of congratulations to Newroz celebrations taking place in Amed, marking the Kurdish New Year while underlining the urgent need for peace in Türkiye.
In his message, the President reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s unwavering commitment to backing the ongoing peace process by every means available, and expressed appreciation for the strides already made. The President said: We anticipate continued progress and welcome the next steps ahead.
On behalf of President Nechirvan Barzani, Mr. Dilshad Shahab, Assistant to the President, delivered the message below at the celebrations held in Amed.

Dear attendees,
I extend my sincere congratulations on the Kurdish New Year and Newroz to all the Kurdish people and to everyone gathered here in Amed today to celebrate Newroz.
Newroz holds a special place in our hearts; it represents renewal and the aspiration for a better life, as well as the manifestation of the aspirations of a people that has always yearned for freedom and harmony. I hope that this holiday brings joy and tranquility to all.
This event you host, which has become a lovely annual tradition in Amed, is a celebration of life and beauty, reflecting the values of brotherhood and mutual acceptance among the Kurds.
As we celebrate Newroz today, we reaffirm our sincere commitment to peace. Achieving peace in Türkiye is a great and vital goal that serves both the Kurds and the Turks, and the entire region. Peace remains the only path to securing a better future for coming generations.
We have long been neighbors, sharing common destinies and interests. It is only through unity and stability that we can overcome challenges and contribute to building a better life; let us embark on this journey together.
I express my sincere appreciation for all the efforts made so far to achieve peace. We look forward to continued efforts and to further steps.
We in the Kurdistan Region reaffirm our full commitment to the success of peace and look forward to the end of conflict and the restoration of stability. Let us work together to turn peace into a lasting reality during these challenging times in the region.
