On the occasion of the Babylonian-Assyrian New Year 6775 and the Akitu festivities, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Chaldeans, Assyrians, and Syriacs celebrating Akitu, in Kurdistan, Iraq, and globally. I wish them a joyful and a peaceful holiday.
The Akitu celebration represents a significant historical and cultural event, reflecting the rich heritage and deep-rooted traditions of one of the oldest communities in our region, which has played a vital role in the development of civilizations and the preservation of cultural diversity throughout history.
On this occasion, we in the Kurdistan Region reaffirm our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights and freedoms of all individuals, while fostering a culture of diversity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect among Kurdistan’s various religious and ethnic groups.
May this year's Akitu celebration serve as a renewed opportunity to enhance friendships, coexistence, and respect among all communities of Kurdistan, and inspire hope for a future marked by development, peace, and prosperity for all.
Wishing all a joyous Akitu and a happy new year.
