Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 30 July 2019 – President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received Consul General of Kuwait to the Kurdistan Region Dr Omer Al-Kandari. Dr-Alkandari reiterated that the Emir of Kuwait and its people are looking forward to improving relations with Iraq in general and the Kurdistan Region in particular, as he underlined the International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq which was held in Kuwait.
In the meeting which was held in Erbil, President Barzani expressed his appreciation to the Emir of Kuwait and its government for the humanitarian support provided by Kuwait to the refugees and displaced persons taking asylum in the Kurdistan Region, Kuwait’s openness to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region; and wished for relations to improve between the Kurdistan Region and Kuwait.
President Barzani reiterated his support for the recommendations and outcomes of the International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq and hoped for more investments from Kuwait in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Discussing the political situation of the area in general, the post-Da’esh stage, and various relevant topics pertinent to the security of the Middle East were among discussed topics.
