Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 25 July 2019 – President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani met with the joint high-level committee of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq. In the meeting, both sides praised the efforts made by the committee for resolving the outstanding issues in accordance with the Iraq Constitution. Also, both sides confirmed continued meetings in order to overcome the obstacles and find solutions that are in the interest of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
In the meeting, President Barzani commended Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s position and the efforts of the joint high-level committee of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq on solving the issues. President Barzani reaffirmed cooperation between both sides, and he confirmed that the Kurdistan Region wants a solution that is within the framework of Iraq and in accordance with the Constitution, which would bring stability and improve ties between both sides.
The visiting delegation expressed their contentment with the position of the Kurdistan Region on how to resolve the issues. They presented a brief on the outcome of the meeting between high-level committees of the Kurdistan Region and Federal Government of Iraq and Baghdad’s position on resolving the outstanding issues.
