Erbil, Kurdistan Region, 23 July 2019 - President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region conveyed his congratulations, in a letter, to United Kingdom’s newly elected Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson, and wished him success in his new post.
Below is the text of the letter:
Dear Mr. Johnson,
I extend my warmest congratulations on your election as the leader of the Conservative Party. I am sure that your experience and leadership will prove invaluable for the United Kingdom.
The Kurdistan Region is proud of its relations with the UK, and I hope that with your new role as the leader of the Conservative Party and the Prime Minister of the UK, the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UK will improve further.
The UK’s instrumental support to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the fight against terrorists has been vital. Our Region will count on the continued support of the UK under your leadership for maintaining stability in this important part of the Middle East.
