It is with profound sorrow that I have received the news of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State, who embodied peace, justice, and the bridging of divides among nations and faiths. He was a paragon of humility, spirituality, and compassion.
On behalf of the people of Kurdistan and myself, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Christian world and to all of humanity. We share in the collective mourning for the loss of such a significant historical figure. His commitment to upholding human dignity and promoting a message of love and coexistence was unwavering.
In the Kurdistan Region, where our society thrives on pluralism, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, we deeply value the human and spiritual contributions of Pope Francis. We pray that God grants him mercy and offers peace and solace to all who grieve.
Though Pope Francis has departed from this world, his legacy and teachings will continue to serve as a guiding light of hope and peace for all. The memory of his visit to the Kurdistan Region in 2021 will remain vivid and a source of pride for us.
