On this day, marking the 38th anniversary of the chemical assault on Balisan, Sheikh Wasanan, and the Khoshnawti Valley, we honor the memory of the martyrs who fell victim to this atrocity committed by the former regime. We remember them with deep respect and extend our heartfelt condolences to their families.
The chemical attack on this region and its cherished people was part of a broader campaign of violence—not only against civilians, but also against the land and environment of Kurdistan. The intent was to undermine the resolve of the people of Kurdistan and the patriotic people of this region, which has historically served as a vital center of resistance and a stronghold for the Peshmerga.
The freedoms and accomplishments of the Kurdistan Region are the result of the sacrifices, struggles, and steadfast dedication of the people of Kurdistan. The most meaningful tribute to the martyrs—and the surest path to a brighter future—lies in our continued unity and unwavering commitment to serving Kurdistan.
We pay our respects to the martyrs of Khoshnawti and all those who have sacrificed for Kurdistan.
